Independent regulatory consultant and Dutch OG in payments/e-money and digital money space checking out crypto-security and regulatory issues of digital cash since 1995/1996. Never left the space and ended up becoming the only certified compliance professional in bitcoin space (also a former banker, former bank lobbyist, former supervisor) that succeeded in winning a court case to get a central bank to fully revoke its excessive supervisory requirement. Not a big fan of the FATF.

Simon is also part-time chair of Human RIghts in Finance.EU, an NGO set up in 2023 to protect human rights in finance/crypto. HRIF.EU became the only NGO in the world that in 2024 used abuse-reports and legal opinions to get AWS to stop hosting (and kick out) an illegal Dutch banking surveillance dragnet that operated for five big banks in the Netherlands and spanned billions of transactions in the years 2021-2024.
